Peters Tweezers $9.00 Part# TWPETERS
The Peters Tweezers is a dual purpose tool. Originally, the tool was designed to symmetrically locate the eye locations on fish beads, but it also excels at quick and very easy to make loops and holes for pendants, vessels and buttons. Standard designed tweezers have their tips run parallel to each other. These specially modified tweezers have their pointed ends bent around so that the very end of their points point directly at each other. To use to symmetrically locate the eyes on a fish bead: heat up the area where both eyes will be located, place the points of the tweezers around the head of the fish and gently squeeze them into the glass. The tweezers will leave small dents which will indicate where you should place the eyes. This method also works great for locating opposite sides of any bead or marble up to 1¼" across. To make loops and holes: place a small amount of glass shaped like a tall bump at the desired location. Heat up just the bump to just shy of it melting down. Quickly place the points of the tweezers to the center of the heated bump and squeeze together. As soon as the tips touch, move the handle back and forth a couple of times in a motion that makes the points rotate in the center of the hole. This motion breaks apart the fine web that would otherwise bridge across the middle of the hole. Remove the tweezers and reheat the glass area making up the hole, being careful not to melt the hole closed. Again place the tweezers in the hole and stretch out the hole to the desired size and shape. To make a large loop, simply start with a larger bump of glass. You may also need to reheat more than one time. For a wider loop, start with a bump that is slightly oval shaped at its base.

Replaceable Tungsten Straight Rake/Poker 1/16" ...... $11.00 Part# TUN116REPL 3/32" ...... $12.00 Part# TUN332REPL 1/8" ...... $13.00 Part# TUN18REPL
A Tungsten Pin Vise and a 3-¼" Tungsten Rod together. The length that the tungsten extends from the handle can be adjusted from 1" to 2-3/4". Used to poke holes in glass, make small bubbles, rake and "drag" glass for feathering, marbling, etcetera. To poke holes in glass, warm the glass, but not hot enough to distort or glow red. Then heat the tungsten rod until it glows bright red and push its point into the glass. Repeat this process until the hole is complete or maintain the flame on the tungsten near the glass while pressing the tip into the glass. If done properly, tungsten will not stick to glass like other metals do. Note: Tungsten is very brittle and will snap rather than bend. The 1/16" size is especially delicate. A hole made with tungsten is smaller than a hole made with the corresponding size of mandrel, because it has no mandrel release on it to add thickness.

Tungsten Rods 3¼" length 1/16" ...... $5.00 Part# TUN116R3 3/32" ...... $6.00 Part# TUN332R3 1/8" ...... $7.00 Part# TUN18R3 7" length 1/16" ...... $9.00 Part# TUN116R 3/32" ...... $11.00 Part# TUN332R 1/8" ...... $13.00 Part# TUN18R
Tungsten conducts heat very well. These Tungsten Rods must be held in a handle for you not to get burned during use. Use a handle you already have, or get a handle that matches the size Tungsten Rod (see below), or instead get the Replaceable Tungsten Straight Rake, which comes with a Tungsten Rod and matching Handle (see above).
Tungsten greatly resists sticking to hot glass and is considered superior to ordinary stainless steel rakes. Best used with a Pin Vise to make a replaceable Tungsten Rake/Poker. One end is ground to a long point and the other end is ground to a short point. See description of uses.

Tungsten Bent Rake 3/32" ...... $14.00 Part# TUNBENTRAKE Replacement Tungsten ..... $8.00 Part# TUNREPL
Similar to the Tungsten Rake/ Poker. The difference being that the end of the rod is bent like a dental tool. The shaft of the rake is 3/32" diameter to give it enough strength to endure the lateral forces that raking and shaping cause. The rake is thinner throughout the length of the short, tight bend and ends in a point. Comes with the Tungsten Pin Vise. This is an excellent tool not only for raking, but for sculpturing. Handle carefully and never force the rake against stiff glass to prevent it from snapping.

Steel Rake $7.50 Part# SSRAKE
A pointed 4" steel rod bent at 45° near its end and mounted in a wood handle. Used to rake and "drag" glass for feathering, marbling and more. Steel rakes do stick easier to hot glass than does tungsten. Our steel rake does have a sharp point, but just before the point, the diameter is thicker than on a dental style rake. This gives you a little more working time before the tip gets hot enough to stick.

Mandrel Pin Vise $25.95 Part# VISEMAN
The miniature three jawed chuck, similar to that on a drill, goes from completely closed up to 1/8" (3mm) in diameter to hold mandrels, tungsten rods and wires. Extremely useful when you find that holding thin mandrels is difficult, tungsten gets too hot to touch and wires are floppy and too hot to hold close to the glass. Simply remove the mandrel, tungsten or wire from the handle and insert a new one. The handle is completely hollow all the way through, so there is no limit to the length of the item you are holding. Handle is ½" (12.7mm) diameter. 6½" (15cm) overall length.
