Place your hot beads between these two 1" thick ceramic fiber blankets after flame annealing to help minimize thermal shock (broken beads). This can work well on small beads, but kiln annealing is recommended for larger beads. Ceramic fiber is a better insulator than vermiculite. The ceramic fiber is made of minerals and care should be taken when handling, vermiculite contains naturally occurring asbestos. 6" X 12"

This material is so safe that you can actually breath and eat it. This blanket has the same insulating value as the regular blanket, but is not quite as durable. 6" X 12"

The thinnest fiber paper is used as an alternative to shelf primer. It is extremely thin at only .008" thick. The thicker fiber papers are used to form glass. They can be cut with scissors or hobby knife into shapes and laid singularly or stacked under glass to shape it. The 1/8" size works great for making the hanging holes through fused pendants. All four papers come clean from glass that has been fire to fusing temperatures without the use of shelf primer. Fiber paper releases organic binder fumes during fusing that must be vented.
